Adoration
A poem by JUNE ARCHER

Photo by Jeff Geerling. Used with permission.

Sitting before You,

I soak in the quiet

even as the traffic hurries by outside.

Just for a moment or two,

the chance to tell You

my fears, my worries, my hopes

and to praise You for

Your goodness to me.

I feel Your presence so powerfully

on the altar as You humble Yourself

to reside in the monstrance,

me looking at You

You looking at me.

What tenderness I feel

as I hear that still small Voice say,

“I know you, I love you.”

I kneel at your feet and then depart –

carrying You in my heart

as the world swallows me once again.
