Annunciation

Immersed in silence and calm of soul
To Her an angel did come,
And pouring forth unheard of praise
Asked Her to bear the Son.

Confirmed in single love avowed
The world then held its breath,
As from Her lips the words went forth
That broke the chains of death.

And Heaven then came rushing down
To Her who knelt alone,
That all on earth may one day rise
To His eternal home.

On that day a song began
Never more to cease
In honor of the only one
With God always at peace.

I know Father Sharbel's work is more of a Feast of the Annunciation poem than a Christmas poem, but it's so beautiful that I couldn't wait to share it. Merry Christmas!
