Gawker Editor Jesse Oxfeld sent an e-mail asking me, along with other media folk, what we were thankful for for on this Thanksgiving. The e-mail stated, "Funny replies are always good; earnest is fine, too. And don't worry: Either way, we promise not to make fun of what you write."
Here's what I wrote and sent to them in time for their deadline—but, for some reason, it didn't make the cut:
I'm very thankful for my family, old and new friends, health, job, book, hopeful outlook, and being on the road to Rome.
