From the New York Times story about preparations at the White House for a white-tie dinner in honor of Queen Elizabeth:
In the West Wing on Friday, the talk was of negotiations with Syria, but in the East Wing, it was all about china — and not the country.When I see lower-case "china" in a story about a white-tie dinner, followed by the qualification, "and not the country" — in case any readers don't geddit— I have to wonder: Does some editor at the Times think they're writing for radio?
